Our First Studio!

Our First Studio!
WhySoBlue started in a living room in August 2015, and grew beyond any of us. The company once run single-handedly by Shweta and Jaya expanded beyond the four walls, and after two and a half years, it was time to move out.
Our clientele expanded beyond our website and social media accounts to local orders with customers walking in with their ideas and wishes, trusting us to bring them alive. We wanted a place to hold meetings, style and design comfortably, surrounded by our inspirations and fabrics – a sacred space for curating our collections. We kept the studio interiors very basic but modern and functional. What you see here is a white brick wall, racks and the changing area with a curtain partition and floor-length mirror.
The old-fashioned sewing machine in our signature WSB blue, with the dresses hanging from gold-sprayed rods and bags resting on white minimalist shelves just adds that much needed punch to the otherwise simple studio :)
The entire studio was planned and overseen by Shweta and Jaya personally. Their vision was to have a big, free space with plenty of light and muted colours, a space that exudes a homey feeling. Ditching the been-there-done-that style of an interior decorator, they handpicked everything from the track lights to the colour of the racks. Every piece of furniture was customized to fit the mood of the studio, and we did away with the hardback chairs for cheerful floral stools with legs dip-dyed in pink to add a fun element of casual intimacy.
The studio has a curtained changing room for our walk-in customers to try on new pieces. Our production team sits in a separate section, well-lit and equipped with industrial-grade machinery for tailoring the perfect pieces for our customers.
Earlier, our shoots were done outdoors with quaint streets and Victorian buildings, but we wanted to create a space to shoot indoors with ease. We picked white for a clean base with splashes of colour seen in the cute café-style door. The front is almost entirely glass to allow natural light to work its charm and wooden flooring adds an earthy, welcoming touch to the well-lit space. And finally, the gorgeous white brick wall gives depth to the space and focuses on creating an image of international accessibility to the pieces modelled, and the responses we’ve received are great!
A lot of DIY went into the final touches, the first addition being the embroidery rings that showcase all our fabrics from the inception of WhySoBlue to now. We have included an old-style sewing machine painted in our trademark WSB blue to add a pop of colour to our space, and the logo was hand-painted by Shreya, the youngest member of their family, as a gift for their new workspace.

And now that we are all settled in and open for business, why don't you drop by for a chat? Just give us a call beforehand so we can have the music going!
